Travelling to Nepal in the “new normal”

With vaccination progress, the world is finally getting better. Here in Nepal, we are very happy to see that the numbers of COVID-19 cases have been dropping constantly within the last few weeks and our health system is not overwhelmed anymore. While travelling is not what it used to be, we have finally reached a point where it is possible again. We are optimistic that – slowly, but surely – we can resume doing what we love most and start making dreams come true again – your dreams and our dreams, that have been put on hold for so long. In times of frequently changing rules, we are always here to assist you if you have any questions regarding your trip to Nepal. Having said that, we would like to give you a quick overview of the situation at the moment:

  1. Rules can change anytime, so please message us to know the latest regulations.
  2. Visa on arrival as it used to be has not resumed yet. Nonetheless, you can apply for a visa at the Nepalese embassy in your home country or we can help you to get a visa recommendation letter for a visa on arrival.
  3. To enter Nepal, you need to be double vaccinated (and carry a proof of vaccination).
  4. Before you get on your flight, you need a negative PCR test which is not older than 72 or 48 hours. Please also check with your airline which time frame applies!
  5. Flight: Again, please check with your airline which documents you need to travel to Nepal (for example, proof of hotel booking). Note that some airlines have stricter rules than the destination country itself. Make sure you have everything ready so you will be allowed to board the plane.
  6. Before you head to Nepal, you need to register at https://ccmc.gov.np/arms/person_add_en.php

After registration, you should get a barcode. Print that out or take a screenshot and carry it with you.

  1. After arrival, you need to take another PCR test and wait for the negative result before you can start your adventure.

With your double vaccination, negative test results and, of course, following the health protocols (don’t forget your masks), you are ready to hit the trails. We can’t wait to welcome you (back) to Nepal!
