Khopra Danda Trek is a newly opened trekking route in the Annapurna region. The trail is designed to present you off-the-beaten trekking experience without getting overboard while enjoying fantastic landscape views and rich culture. Khopra Danda Trek 12 Days will take you to the top of Khopra Danda from where you can see the lovely scenery and snow-capped mountains. The trail further moves up to the Khayer Lake, a sacred lake. This lake has huge religious importance for Hindus. 

Trekking through dense forest and picturesque villages, you will traverse the region. You will spend the night in the beautiful Ghorepani village, and hike up to the vantage point called Poonhill, which is very famous among travelers. Khopra Danda Trek is a short and adventurous journey to one of the less-traveled trails of the Annapurna region. The trail is less crowded and beautifully packed with nature's beauty. Along with superb views, the venture will let you experience the rich culture and tradition of the locals. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets will begin and end your day. During the trek, you will get to see panoramic views of Annapurna Range (8,091 m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Mt. Himchuli (6,411 m), Mt. Nilgiri (7,061 m), Mt. Macchapucchre (6,993 m), and many others. After long trekking days, spend a day in Tatopani and dip your body in natural hot springs.

Ghorepani Village

Ghorepani is a beautiful village surrounded by lovely rhododendron forests and mountains. This village will present to you the rich culture and tradition of Gurung people, their daily lifestyle, and unique houses. 

Poon Hill Viewpoint

Poonhill is also one of the main highlights of this trek. It is a very famous vantage point of the Annapurna region from where you will get to see one of the most captivating sunrises of your life along with views of western Himalayas. From Ghorepani village, it will take around one and a half hours to reach Poonhill.

Khopra Danda

Located at 3,640 meters, Khopra Danda is a beautiful hilltop. Here, you might get to see animals like Himalayan Thar and Himalayan Monal. Upon reaching Khopra Dada, you will get to see superb views of Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Nilgiri, and several other mountains. 

Khayra Lake

Situated at 4,660 meters Khayer Lake is a beautiful lake as well as the highest point of the Khopra Danda Trek. This lake has huge religious value and is a pilgrimage site. Many Hindu pilgrims visit this lake every year to worship and get blessed. 

Hot Spring

After your successful trek to Khopra Danda Trek, you will descend to Tatopani, you will find natural hot spring. You can take a long relaxing bath in the hot spring by paying a few extra bucks. This will help you relax your muscles.

Culture & Ethnic Diversity  

Khopra Danda Trek will present to you the rich culture and lifestyle of the Chhetri and Gurung people. Your night stay in different villages will present you with a closer perspective of their daily lifestyle and practices. You need to walk for at least 5 to 6 hours a day. 

Altitude Sickness and Prevention

Khopra Danda Trek does involve chances of altitude sickness because of the high altitude. You will traverse above 4,000 meters, which is a very high altitude. However, you will be gradually gaining elevation that lowers the risks of suffering from AMS. The best thing you can do to avoid AMS is by keeping yourself hydrated during the trek.

Khopra Danda Trek 12 Days begins with a long and scenic drive from Kathmandu to Tikhedhunga. From here, you will gradually ascend towards the top of the Khopra Danda.

You will be staying in the guesthouse during Khopra Danda Trek. The guesthouse will have basic rooms with a bed and a few pieces of furniture. There will be a hot shower facility almost everywhere.

For food, you will be eating meals as per the menu of the guesthouse. You can find dishes like rice, curries, sandwiches, bakeries, momo, noodles, veggies, bars, drinks, tea, coffee, etc.
