It is easy to get visa in Nepal. Nepal issues on arrival visa service for most of the countries. It can be obtained from Tribhuvan International Airport. Or you can also get visa from online form. The other stations of Visa services are Kakarvitta Boarder, Birgunj Boarder, Bhairahawa Boarder, Nepalgunj Boarder and Kerung Boarder (Nepal China Boarder).

In order to get visa, you need a valid passport and passport size photo with light background is required. It only can be obtained in following currency: US Dollar, Euro, Pound Sterling, Australian Dollar, Swiss Franc, Canadian Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Singapore Dollar, and Japanese Yen. Note that credit card, Indian Currency, and Nepali Currency are not accepted.

Free Visa Service

The visitors from South Asian Countries – Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are provided free visa for their first visit in one visa year (Jan – Dec). By the way, visa can be extended from Immigration department on pay of visa fees as specified above.

Indian Nationals

Visa do not require to enter Nepal only for Indian nationals. However, they must posses any of the following documents to visit Nepal.

  1. Passport
  2. Driving license with photo
  3. Ration card with photo
  4. Election commission card with photo
  5. ID card issued by embassy of India in Kathmandu
  6. Photo ID card issued by a Government agency

No visa on arrival

Nepal government does not issue on arrival visa to the citizens of following countries:-

  • Nigeria
  • Ghana
  • Zimbawe
  • Cameroon
  • Swaziland
  • Liberia
  • Somalia
  • Ethiopia
  • Iraq
  • Palestine
  • Afghanistan

The citizens of above countries need to obtain visa of Nepal embassies or diplomatic missions in their respective countries.

Visa Extension

$30 USD or equivalent Nepali currency is charged to extend visa for 15 days. To extend for more than 15 days, you will be charged $2 USD per day.

In fact, tourist visa can be extended only up to 150 days in a single visa year (Jan – Dec).
